"Indiana Shows Stock Price Muscle"...

"Silicon Valley was still home of the best-performing stocks between 1994 and 2004. Perhaps more surprising is that Indiana was a close No. 2, behind by just 0.1 percentage point."

"Hearing that Indiana's stocks were just behind Silicon Valley's didn't surprise Nancy Brown, spokeswoman for Carmel, Ind.-based ITT Educational. She points out the Midwest's litany of business advantages: Homes are less expensive, commutes are relatively short, and many costs are lower than in the bigger metropolitan areas.
Brown says those benefits speak volumes for people who relocate."

"We've hired key senior executives the last couple of years who thought Indiana wouldn't be as exciting as the East Coast," she says. "But people who move here are pleasantly surprised and like to stay."
