Fight Meth Through Community Action...

Editorial

"We prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat." (Neh.4:9)

For two years, the Transform Indiana network has proliferated the concept of regular 'community-focused' prayer reminder every Friday at 11am as we hear the "Community Prayer Siren" throughout the state. [Prayed4.com]

Further, we recently encouraged our surfing constituency to "Pray The Headlines"... with a sense of urgency as a result of the Katlyn Collman tragedy in Crothersville.

Notwithstanding the extreme importance of prayer, we also concur with the Indianapolis Star editorial today.... "Fight Meth Through Community Action".

Simply put, we desire to not only pray to our God, but also deploy a "guard" as they did in Nehemiah's time. That is, pray & act prudently, recognizing the times.

Being 'salt & light' in the communities & neighborhoods in which we live involves praying as Jesus taught us to pray... "thy will be done, on earth... as it is in heaven".... and following his directive to 'love your neighbor as yourself'. [And using the example he gave us, heal everything in our paths insofar as we possibly can.]

Indeed, let's be all that we can possibly be as 'salt & light' to the community. And if we live in low-crime suburbs while possessing high-income resources, recall Jesus' reminder: "To whom much is given, much is required." Thank God for your neighborhood and make a difference in someone else's.

We join our voice to that of the Star. Let's make a difference community by community. That's a recurrent theme & strategy of Transform Indiana. Join us for our next lunchtime meeting, Feb. 12th. We'll no doubt continue this conversation there and then. Special guest: Noel Castellanos, President, Chicago Latino Coalition.
