Jury rejects prayer defense in baby's death

"FRANKLIN, Ind. -- A Johnson County jury found a husband and wife guilty of reckless homicide refusing to seek medical treatment to help their gravely ill newborn daughter, relying instead on prayer. The infant died about 31 hours after her birth." [continued at IndyStar.com]

***********************

[Sadly, the prosecutor, the county, the state, nor the federal government would have cared, had it occurred 31 hours earlier. And sadly, unlike in the Schiavo case Christian pro-life advocates will probably let this go by without comment. Prove us wrong -- post about it in the blogosphere and we'll link to your post. Where's our fervor for life, now? And where did these folks obtain such bad theology? Btw, where were the elders in this case? Were they encouraging the family to seek medical attention? Were they discouraging it? When, btw will the fractured Church of Jesus Christ rise up together, after kneeling in repentance as we see our complicity in such matters because of the lack of an accountability structure consisting of wise, qualified elders representing the larger 'body of Christ' in a community? Dare anyone write one pen-stroke about this? If so, leave a comment, or indicate your blog-url.]

Indy Cristian,

As a father of a 15 year boy, I just can't understand how a father and a mother could allow their child to pass on without seeking medical help. I wouls do anything to save my son!
