Gannett Eying Emmis TV Stations

"Gannett Co. is considering buying all 16 television stations owned by locally based Emmis Communications Corp., Bloomberg News reported today.

Responding to a question, Gannett CEO Douglas McConkindale said this morning at the 2005 NAA Mid-Year Media Review that his company is looking at various opportunities, including the Emmis stations, said Tara Connell, a Gannett spokeswoman.

"If it makes sense economically, then we will do it," McConkindale said at the media review, according to the Bloomberg story."
