IndyStar.com opens blog columns to comments...

IndyStar.com now has added some blog functionality to its online editorial page.

Perhaps the significance of this escapes some of you, but let me go out on a limb and congratulate the Indianapolis Star for opening (some of) its editorial pieces to 'comments' by online users.

[Expresso] [Fresh Thoughts] [In Touch]

And you can track your favorite Star bloggers... Example: Dr. A. Charles Ware, Crossroads Bible College. And Kevin Bain.

And perhaps best of all... most of these pages have an 'RSS feed'. ["Why Feed RSS to the Aggregators?"]

I'm guessing they soon may even be permalinking their articles (so we can refer to them permanently, knowing they'll be there for years to come... not just a couple of weeks). After all, disk space is virtually free these days -- why not? That'd add great value for those of us linking folks to their articles online.

Or how about this... Can you imagine if they added a comment section for some of their editorial staff opinions? Today, for instance... take Dan Carpenter..... Please.

[No. Too tempting. Not going there.]

Bottom line: 'Comments' are one of the reasons why I'm so 'big on blogs'... believing that God has given us new paradigm capabilities to help re-connect the Church, better communicate among them, and to let truth be sharpened at the speed of Light. Secular and Christian positions can now be more easily known, truth documented, debated openly and myths dismissed. With a decreased ability to isolate one's followers (and feed 'em whatever propaganda you want), truth will rise to the top.

So congratulations Dennis & tech staff at the Star. It's a bold move.

Christians... A new opportunity just arose, didn't it? Unlike (print-world) 'Letters to the Editor', online comments presumably will not be selective or edited. So let me suggest you regularly keep abreast of the Star online, and leave significant comments as appropriate.

"Truth will prevail. Truth at the speed of light will prevail at the speed of Light."

Subsequent note: LOL. Oops. Spoke too soon. Tried to leave a comment just now on the "In Touch" section blogpost entitled "Stop Hostettler".... and it errored out during the preview mode. And after hitting the POST button, it thanked me for 'posting'.... but didn't display the comment... So apparently the comments ARE being moderated. [Sorry to see that, but I understand.] Thus it make take a while for your comment to show up. If your comment never shows up, let them know [and let us know also].
