WhenYouNeedSomeone.com... for Addictions?
A Christian friend wrote me today..."I am writing specifically to learn if you can be of any help in my locating a faith-based resource that will help a friend overcome an addiction to crack."
Many Christians around the city would like to know such things:
"Where can I turn to help get food, shelter, clothing, transportation, counseling, or.....?"
That is the very purpose that some Christian ministries networked here in the Greater Indianapolis area have started working together to compile such answers to these questions. And IndyChristian.com has made the answers available at a sister-site called...
"Welcome... You've come to the right place. Jesus loves you, and so do we. He said, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' We're a long ways from perfect, or perfectly-able to meet all your needs... but we care, and our network of providers will try to help as best we possibly can."
The WhenYouNeedSomeone (WYNS) network is currently only a virtual listing of various services recommended by some key ministries here in the Greater Indianapolis area. The past compilation has been largely accomplished through the generosity of one anonymous donor working through an unnamed, Christ-driven ministry in the city -- who has in turn published a small pocket-sized guide to these services, suitable for use by pastors, police, counselors and others.
[Here's the link to how you may obtain a copy of this small guide. Or if you would like to help fund the updating of this guide in the next printing, please contact us and we'll put you in touch with the lead-ministry who is providing it.]
As you'll see at the site, the needs are categorized into a dozen main rolled-up categories. Many 'needs' are the very types of needs that Jesus himself dealt with and commands us to help our 'neighbors' with. He didn't stop with just helping with their physical needs, but went on to offer them healing of their much more important need... their need for an eternally-abundant life. Likewise, we would of course like to most often recommend needs-providers who are motivated and able to also deal with the spiritual needs of our friends & neighbors.
So please help us to add/delete/edit the resources listed at the site and in the pocket-guide.
For example, using today's question above... You'll see at the site, that 'ADDICTIONS' is one of the main rolled-up categories. Take a moment to review this short list. If you know of additional resources that deal primarily with addictions, please contact us.
Or if you would like to participate in the compilation/editing process to help research or speed this effort, perhaps God has equipped you for exactly such a time as this. Let us hear from you.
And as always, prayer is readily available throughout the area.
