Storefront churches...

[Excellent article by Courtenay Edelhart, Indianapolis Star]

"There are no sounding bells, stained-glass windows or soaring steeples at the Spiritual Awakening Tabernacle Church in the Near-Northside's Mapleton Fall Creek neighborhood. The congregation of 35, instead, worships within 1,200 square feet of leased space in a former doctor's office that has chipped paint, rotting wood and creaky stairs."

"Just around the corner is Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, with about 600 members and a 132-room behemoth limestone building that mimics 15th-century Gothic architecture.
Close in proximity, the two congregations are at opposite ends of a spectrum of evolution for houses of God..."
