Forum: Homosexuality, Civil Rights and the Church

[The following notes come from the office of the president at Crossroads Bible College, the venue of last night's debate.]

Praise God for the prayers of the saints. The forum was well attended (over 500), orderly and good exposure for CBC.

Thanks to all of you who served in various ways. God has given us a great team! I have received some great comments concerning our own Dean Baxter! It is very beneficial to have more of our faculty and staff known.

There were some representatives of Pure Life Ministries at the meeting. This is a ministry that deals with people struggling with sexual addictions. I was pleased that they felt the forum was handled gracefully but truthfully.

The bottom line was that one group saw the love of Christ in affirming a homosexual’s lifestyle, i.e. acceptance without change while the other saw the love of Christ in forgiving and freeing the individual from sin.

There is talk of a future debate focused upon certain Scriptural texts.

Media Coverage:

* Channel 16, was here and the forum should be shown on the public access station at a later time.

* A Christian friend from Indiana Christian News filmed the forum too. He'll do some editing, i.e. add Scripture texts, etc., and produce a DVD for distribution.

* Moody (WGNR), has asked for an audio copy for some future use.

* I was speaking with an Answers in Genesis worker yesterday and he asked about getting a copy of the forum. He wants to make Focus on the Family aware of it.
