Granting Enrichment

Lilly endowment's focus on religious projects stems from belief that good churches create good communities...



The endowment has been making grants in religion since its founding in 1937, when it gave mostly to local churches. In the past seven years, it has given more than $1 billion -- about a quarter of its total grants -- to religious projects. [continued at IndyStar.com]
