Youth Rally for Peace
[from the Lt. Governor's office...]"On Tuesday, I was pleased to participate in the youth rally, "Peace in the Streets," on the circle in downtown Indianapolis. Although we focused on combating violent crime in this urban community, violence is a problem in our rural communities, as well.
It was significant that supporters at the rally included motivated young men and women, parents, religious leaders, community leaders, law enforcement, and elected officials. Government alone will never be able to stem the tide of violence. It takes a shared commitment within the community to make a difference. Tuesday's rally was a beginning, but it is an effort worthy of support across our great state."
