Bush taps Hoosier for Faith-based Office
[Outstanding! Great news via Robert King at IndyStar.com]Indianapolis Star -- Jay Hein was not originally on the short list of people being considered to run President Bush's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.
But when White House officials -- at the suggestion of former Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind. -- went to Hein for advice on candidates, they soon came to see him as more than an adviser. Hein, a 41-year-old elder at Grace Community Church in Noblesville and president of the Indianapolis-based Sagamore Institute for Policy Research, was appointed to the job late Thursday.
