'Indy Timeline' of Upcoming Events Christian Community Efforts re City Homicides
"Community Prayer Siren"
The Transform Indiana networking leaders met yesterday, notably praying about and discussing the recent rash of homicides in the city.
Pastor Fredrick Boyd of Zion Unity Fellowship spoke of the link between removing prayer and the Bible from schools, and their replacement with 'evolution'. "If we teach these young kids that effectively they're animals, how can that not lead to behaving like animals?"
"We don't even give them an opportunity in school to learn about themselves as God's special creations."
Pastor Boyd and a number of Christian pastors, leaders and scientists have planned a special "Creation Evidence Crusade" in the city, September 22-24, to present evidences and offer hope to our city's young people. Pastor Boyd urges other pastors & leaders to actively get involved.
The gathered network leaders also heard early reports from the recent "Faith Hope & Love Week" in which Christians volunteered thousands of hours of community service and prayer for our city. FHL is co-hosting two special follow-up dinners in different sectors of the city to recognize its coordinators & volunteers. Carmel Christian Church and Oasis of Hope will be the venues for "Snapshots From A City", on August 25th & 26th (respectively). These dinner theater presentations include compelling vignettes designed to help suburban Christians better relate to their counterparts involved in urban ministry.
Transform Indiana will be holding a lunchtime meeting in Anderson on August 22nd for pastors, leaders and individuals intent on praying and collaborating to change lives and communities. The meeting will feature successful offender-reentry programs in Anderson as TI continues its "Breaking Out of the Jail Cycle" series. [Details at the site, as they become available]
