Walk humbly with thy God

The rhetorical question is posed in Micah 6:6-7 of how can I come before the Lord and have Him be well pleased with me...the answer was not “good works”, rather to walk in the ways of God. This is our message today-we can not please God and be in fellowship with Him without walking in His ways...
His first and foremost way is the acceptance of His Son, Jesus Christ, as our personal Lord and Savior. Without the shed blood of Jesus and His sacrificial death on the cross, we have NO ability whatsoever to approach the throne of God, to speak to Him or to fellowship with Him. That said, and moving forward with the assumption that we are saved, then God’s ways (and we see this in the life of Jesus) are to walk justly (loving all man-kind equally and without partiality), to love mercy (don’t give to people what they deserve, rather extend the grace that we have received through our redemption to others), and to walk humbly with thy God.
What does walk humbly with thy God mean? It means submitting ourselves to His direction with the understanding that He knows far more than we. It means looking to Him for His mercy and grace as we will always fail but He will never fail. It means obeying His commands as they are perfect and because He is perfect we will do it out of love. 1Samuel echoed this sentiment when Samuel the prophet told us that to obey is better than sacrifice. The only sacrifice God wants from us is our life as we give it out of love.
The paradigm of grace, as opposed to the works that come from religion, is that through the acceptance of God’s grace we have the ability to have relationship and not just religion. This is why the first great commandment is to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, strength & and our every breath (basically everything that we are). Look at the ideal father-child relationship...that’s what God desires with us: when we come home, we don’t expect our children to come to us sacrificing and bowing down and paying homage to us...rather we desire the fellowship and relationship that comes from love (hugs and hearing about their day).
Pray with me that we walk humbly with God all of our days...
=======================
Micah 6:6-8 Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? 7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
