"He filled in as a temporary anchor on WISH-TV 8 in the early 1980s. These days John Samples is a temporary minister to homeless young people. Samples' new assignment, with Outreach Inc., is pretty far from the limelight he enjoyed in the 1980s, as a high-profile television anchor and press secretary to Mayor Bill Hudnut. Now he's subbing for Outreach founder and executive directory Eric Howard so Howard can take a summer sabbatical."
