Veritas Rex... Blogging "Truth Is King"

[IndyChristian Ed Note: Veritas Rex is an excellent new blog here in Indiana, sponsored by Indiana Family Institute. Gotta love this new addition to the Hoosier blogosphere, especially with such a great objective.... "So we initiate this blog as an honest, honorable effort to advance the discussion and bring a Biblical world view to the challenges and opportunities before the Hoosier State, which we dearly love."]

"“Veritas Rex” loosely translated means “Truth is King.” Believing in absolute Truth is often viewed with skepticism. Truth is commonly seen as relative. Therefore, stating that Truth is King could be considered revolutionary in the age in which we live. The significance of this name for IFI is rooted in the revolutionary work of a remarkable Scot named Samuel Rutherford (c. 1600-1660). In his seminal work, Rutherford took the ruling political ethic of the day – Rex Lex – or the King is Law -- and turned it literally upside down -- the Law is King, by which he meant (and so do we) God's Law.

This book, Lex Rex, was immediately branded as treason by the English Government and burned as he was placed under a death sentence..." [continued on Biography page at www.VeritasRex.com]

I'm sorry - I can't take them seriously. They actually have a section of their site dedicated to "Jesus WOULD discriminate." Uh, no. Tell that to the Samaritans, Gentiles, women, lepers, prostitutes and thieves that he ran around with - while telling folks NOT to discriminate.

They're not a serious Christian organization. They're listed as a political hate group by national organizations (and not just gay rights groups - serious organizations that track skinheads, etc.) Tell me how they help the poor, sick or aged. Tell me how they support folks instead of how they tear down others. They are Pharisees.

As well, they steal! The graphic they're using for their Jesus WOULD discriminate page is stolen from Jesus MCC Church's Would Jesus Discriminate? campaign - and they've stolen photos and more from my site for their action alerts. Apparently theft is a family value!

These folks are a joke.

Bill...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Btw, since hyperlinking is a feature of our comments, you'd be welcome to leave another comment and link to any documentation for your statements about IFI being listed as a political hate group.

I do not of course speak for them, but I do personally know a number of them. And they are some of the most compassionate people I know.

It is obvious from your comments that you also apparently believe in placing some values above others -- even if we might not agree on which are to be prioritized. If so, you share that propensity to 'discriminate' (among values) with them and with Jesus... who taught frequently about the values of the Kingdom. And bottom line, although as God he is consummately merciful, sacrificial & patient as he waits for people to repent and accept his Lordship, he will in the final analysis... judge... based on who accepted his Lordship (and demonstrated it via how they lived by Jesus' values... or not).

So loving God with all our everything, and loving our neighbors as ourselves, includes accentuating Christ-like values, while lovingly alerting our friends and loved ones to the (wide) path Jesus spoke of that leads to death & destruction.

It seems to me that IFI simply advocates for Christ-like family values, shares the Good News of Christ's sacrificial offer of eternal life, and alerts folks to destructive paths rejecting the Lordship of the Almighty.

If they truly love their friends, neighbors & community, how could they do otherwise?

The saddest of all things is just how those who advocate for "tolerance" are the most intolerant of all.
