Voters can teach legislators that ethics matter
Voters have put the 150 members of the Indiana General Assembly on notice: Business as usual isn't acceptable.
Public frustration, evident in this month's local elections, is driven by anger over high property taxes and fears of a weaker economy. But there's also a strong sense that many elected leaders are out to lunch (with lobbyists) when it comes to setting and meeting high ethical standards.
Remember February's Super Bowl? State legislators surely do, and not just because the Colts won.
