3:16 Live.... coming to Indy on... 3/16... 2008.

***************

Everyone knows Max Lucado as an author. But how about his driving life's passion?

Visit ThreeSixteenLive.Net.

If after visiting their website you'd like to get involved here in Indianapolis with helping with this extraordinary event in 2008... drop me a line.

Some of us are getting together in Carmel this Thursday for breakfast. How about YOU?

Hope the networking meeting goes well. Say...do you really think it wise to rate verses in the bible as more important than another?

Don't get me wrong, I love John 3:16, my birthday is on a 3/16 and it is the first text I memorized and I love to preach this text. But is it really, The most important verse in the Bible?

Or is this Max hyping his book with 3:16 like Rick Warren hyped his book with the magic of the number 40 and 40 days and leaders emerge in 40s and such. Is this careful theological thinking?

I do not mean to make things complicated, only accurate and clear. Max could save some of us who would love to network with him significant angst if he would spare the hyperbole. It is an inspired, inspiring, authoritative, and inerrant text. It is God's word.

Is it more inspired than Jesus asking "What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?" and the context around such?

Joe... Yeah, personally I think I would (prioritize key verses), [as long as we're not talking about taking things to one extreme or the other]. Jesus did. He quoted key verses from the OT, in different situations. And on a practical basis, it's hard to get non-believers to read the entire Bible (so as not to try evangelizing anyone using only a handful of verses). So yeah, I'd prioritize some verses. In fact, many of us -- probably including yourself -- have even MEMORIZED some key verses. How did we choose which ones though? All this to conclude... yeah, let's put John 3:16 up there in the top ten... and if we have to bump "And Judas went out and hanged himself."... then so be it. Here in Indy, we're used to Bump Day. *smile*
