Nancy Stimson was almost run down on a bicycle path a couple of years ago by a speedy daredevil who just blew right by her.
When BAP suddenly closed shop shortly thereafter, Stimson had an epiphany -- she would start her own, similar project, which she now calls Freewheelin' Community Bike Cooperative.
"It's a mentoring program," said volunteer Joseph Reaves, 49, a pastor at Greater Faith House of Prayer. "And it works. We've got kids in the program who are ready to listen."
