Our prayer focus for Faith, Hope and Love Week is taken from Hebrews 12:1-3


Prayer for Today, July 24, 2008/24 de julio, 2008:

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Lord, help us to press in for the poor. Just like You endured shame and hardship for us, let us do the same for the poor of the city. You said that the poor will always be among us. We are all poor in different ways - some financially, some spiritually, some relationally, some emotionally, some morally. The “ways” may be different but the answer is the same. Help us carry Your good news to every kind of poverty we encounter.

"Por tanto, también nosotros, que estamos rodeados de una multitud tan grande de testigos, despojémonos del lastre que nos estorba, en especial del pecado que nos asedia, y corramos con perseverancia la carrera que tenemos por delante. Fijemos la mirada en Jesús, el iniciador y perfeccionador de nuestra fe, Fijemos la mirada en Jesús, el iniciador y *perfeccionador de nuestra fe, quien por el gozo que le esperaba, soportó la cruz, menospreciando la vergüenza que ella significaba, y ahora está sentado a la *derecha del trono de Dios.>> Hebreos 12:1-3 NIV

Señor, ayúdanos a combatir por los pobres. Exactamente como Tú endureciste vergüenza y privación, que hagamos la misma cosas para los pobres en la ciudad. Tú dijiste que los pobres siempre estarán entre nosotros. Todos nosotros somos pobres en diferentes maneras--algunos financieramente, algunos espiritualmente, algunos socialmente, algunos emocionalmente, algunos moralmente. Las "maneras" pueden ser diferentes pero la respuestas es la misma. Ayúdanos a llevar las buenas nuevas a cada tipo de pobreza que encontramos.
