Charities Give $3.2 Million To Food Banks And Others

Five local philanthropies will unveil a $3.2 million fund today in an unprecedented effort to shore up food banks, homeless shelters and other charities buckling under the demands of a worsening economic crisis.

The money would help provide groceries for the hungry, rental assistance for those on the verge of eviction and other basic human needs.
