Prayer Returns To The Indianapolis Star...

[article from Robert King, Religion Editor at the Indianapolis Star...]

Just to show you how much out of the loop I am on what's going on at The Indianapolis Star, it was with surprise that I picked up my morning newspaper -- after braving the minus 10 degree cold to fetch it no less -- to find that the Page 2 prayer had returned.

The note on the front page restated the newspaper's reason for the decision last week to drop the prayer -- that "philosophically, prayer was not the function of the newspaper. Our role is to be the voice of news and information in Central Indiana."

IndyChristian Ed. Note...

Star or no Star, 4 out of 5 American adults pray at least weekly.

And printed-prayer or no printed-prayer, the Star's stock... like many other publishing stocks... has dropped from $35 to $8 over the last 12 months.

Let me suggest the possibility that they need our prayers more than we need theirs.

I love Indy. Weekly we hear what many of us now fondly call the 'Community Prayer Siren' every Friday morning... as a reminder to specifically pray for our COMMUNITY, our neighbors, our leaders, pastors, teachers and other civic heroes.

For me, that includes prayers for community leaders like Dennis Ryerson -- Editor of the Indianapolis Star. I hope you'll join me. I'm sure he'd appreciate them... especially as he too hears the siren weekly.

And thank you, Robert, for catching us up.
