The accessibility of Mayor Greg Ballard and his dedication to improving the various neighborhoods of the City of Indianapolis was evidenced as he visited the Unleavened Bread Cafe at the corner of 30th and Central Avenue on Thursday. Mayor Ballard's impromptu visit was witnessed by a few dozen patrons and neighbors of the small business that serves the neighborhood as not just an eatery, but also a center for ministry and community involvement.

Hostess/Founder Elease Womack [pictured here with Mayor Ballard], long-time advocate Dave Metzger, servant in ministry Shawn Schilling and Lady Gail Reaves (wife to the Pastor of the Church that meets weekly in the Community Room) all took turns speaking with the Mayor about the happenings of this blossoming business and ministry.

Some other visitors of note included: Deputy Mayor for Neighborhoods Olgen Williams, City-County Councilwoman Jackie Nytes, and a gentleman from MBE/WBE Minority and Women Business Development. Also present were members of neighborhood clergy, construction business, youth and those concerned about community enrichment.

The informal gathering was a time in which the Mayor and others could tour the facilities while learning of the cafe's history and vision in serving the community through Christian love. There was excitement and laughter as ideas were exchanged regarding the improvements that are being made as well as those that are planned for the future.
