Our sufficiency is of God

by Pastor Jim Brown

2Co 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

============

Have you ever wondered how you’re going to do “IT”? That thing that seems insurmountable...whether you are wondering how “you” can get the meal on the table, the bill paid, the extra chore done, the 3am feeding, how you can help out grandma, work the overtime the boss just told you was mandatory, and on and on...

The answer for the Christian is “YOU CAN’T” !! We can’t accomplish anything of ourselves – our sufficiency is of God.

Our “ability” (sufficiency) only comes to us as we lean on God for His sufficiency. With God, all things are possible but in our flesh dwells NO good thing – without God we can do nothing. We must come to the realization that part of our worship experience – part of presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice to God means that we place our trust and dependence solely on the creator of the universe!Later on, in this second letter to the church at Corinth, Paul will say, “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong”. (2Co 12:9-10). God’s grace is ALWAYS sufficient for us – even when we can’t see how it could possibly be!!

“Trust me” the Lord is saying to us. “Follow my path that I’ve prepared for you” – Jesus’ path is always the perfect path for us.

Pray with me that we see God as the all sufficient One whose grace is always all that we need...
