Barna's New Definition... But Same Old Problem
IndyChristian Note: Over the past 5 years we have consistently aired the shocking Barna statistics that only 4% of Americans held to a 'biblical worldview'. Today's Barna article reports that effectively nothing has changed over the last 10 years. Except his definition and methodology for the future. Thus using his redefined 'biblical worldview', now 9% meet that categorization. Our conclusion remains the same -- whether it's 384 or 364, out of the 400 metro-area Hoosiers who die EACH WEEK... between sermons... If we're not significantly better than the national average, the Church @ Indianapolis is a long way from effective at carrying out the Great Commission. Something needs to change. And that something, is us... the Church.
- Special New Barna Report -- but with changed methodology and definition of 'Biblical Worldview'. Here's Barna's special note near the end of the article...
"Readers are encouraged to realize that the figures described above regarding a biblical worldview are somewhat different than a similar measure reported by The Barna Group in prior years. The earlier measure included an additional component, which had to do with the source of their worldview. When that measure is included, it typically decreases the percentage of people with a biblical worldview by about half."
