CEN is a communications and collaboration network preparing the Church to be a source of hope, comfort and salvation during times of crisis. CEN Chapters train and equip churches to be spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically ready to network, prepare and mobilize Christians to respond to emergencies, big or small. The Ready Church Initiative prepares Christ-followers to help survivors of crises and disasters recover while sensitively and effectively sharing the hope we have in Jesus Christ.

CEN promotes the Biblical Readiness Standard: the ability to respond to emergencies as faithful Christ-followers who are effectively praying, caring for survivors and sharing the gospel.

CEN invites cityreachers and cityreaching networks to launch CEN Chapters in their cities. CEN Chapters empower local churches in emergency preparedness and response to build local capacity. The capacity–building efforts of the Chapters strengthen local leadership structures and make the Church more resilient and resourceful in responding to urgent needs and emergencies. Resources for launching Chapters and equipping churches are provided online in two learning tracks: Ready Christian and Ready Church. Tracks guide the church and its members through a course in Networking, Preparing and Responding to crisis and disaster. Trained churches become a resource to the community, expand their influence, and create new opportunities to live out the Prayer-Care-Share lifestyle.
