Creationist Henry Morris dies...

Henry Morris, founder of the Institute for Creation Research, died at age 87 in California.
The institute – where Morris remained president emeritus after his retirement – announced he died Saturday afternoon after suffering two strokes.

Beginning with his book "The Genesis Flood" in 1961, Morris was a key figure in the modern creationist movement, which believes God created the world in seven days less than 10,000 years ago and that the biblical flood covered the entire Earth.

Morris, who earned a Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Minnesota, served on the faculty at Rice University, University of Minnesota, University of Southwestern Louisiana and Southern Illinois University.

He headed the department of civil engineering at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University from 1957 to 1970.

Morris' expertise in hydraulic engineering, along with his belief in the Bible's accuracy, led him to seek an explanation of the Genesis flood in scientific terms.

He maintained that the dominant evolutionary theory of the world's origin influenced "nearly every aspect of modern life, especially in its fostering of an almost universal rejection of historicity of Genesis and of biblical Christianity generally."

Indiana Statehouse Prayer Rally

March 19 at 6p at the Indiana Statehouse is a Prayer Rally where several hundreds of Indiana Pastors and intercessors gather to pray for our State.
"God spoke to me as clearly as I've heard Him and said that I should travel around the State of Indiana and pray with Pastors and intercessors. I was to start on my 49th birthday and visit 50 counties leading up to my 50th birthday. The impression was to pray for specific needs of each county..." God's Word

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in
you, which can save you.

Recruiting Advisory Board Members

We are in the process of building an Advisory Board of Christian Professionals for LifeCare Counseling Services as well as the consulting arm of the practice.

"A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels"(Proverbs 1:5 KJV)

The board would meet 4 times per year and would provide LifeCare with wisdom and prayer.

"Where there is no counsel, the people fail; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." (Proverbs 11:14)

We are looking for mature Christian professionals who understand the need for Christian counselors and consultants in our community; men and women who will help further our mission statement and provide advice to us.

Would you consider this very small commitment to God's work? [Continue]

601 N. Shortridge Road, Indianapolis (click for map)
********************************************

[Important announcement from Crossroads Bible College]

"The Indianapolis community is divided over the question of civil rights and discrimination especially as it relates to the Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual community. The recent passage by the City Council (by a 15 – 14 vote) of proposal 622 that added “gender identity and sexual orientation” to the City and County Equal Employment Opportunity laws demonstrates the divide in our city.

A major concern that must be addressed is the theological division among persons professing to be Christian clergy. In Indianapolis, there were 80 clergy signing a statement supporting the passage of proposal 622 while 46 signed a statement opposing it. Moreover, of the pastors that elected to speak personally at the public comment session prior to the vote, there was significant disagreement as ministers personally expressed both support and opposition to the proposal before the City Council.

How is one to understand such differences of opinion, especially among religious leaders? The February 28 forum will provide an environment for reasoning from God’s Holy Scriptures.

God's Word

The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread, and he will be a sanctuary; but for both houses of Israel he will be a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be
a trap and a snare. Many of them will stumble; they will fall and be broken, they will be snared and captured. Bind up the testimony and seal up the law among my disciples. I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob. I will put my trust in him. Here am I, and the children the LORD has given me. State's prayer issue goes to Congress

"U.S. Rep. Mike Sodrel, R-Ind., wants to take away federal judges' power to rule on the content of prayer in state legislatures."

"A bill introduced by Sodrel in the U.S. House would prevent what happened in Indiana last year from happening in other states. In November, U.S. District Judge David Hamilton banned prayers during Indiana House proceedings from mentioning Jesus Christ or endorsing any particular religion. Sodrel will discuss details of the bill at a Statehouse news conference today."

God's Word

But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his
finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" "No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

Check here for a local station. Both Governors Prayer Team President Rev. Tom Walker & Executive Director Mr. David Jahnke will appear on the show that is slotted for Monday. "This is a great opportunity to share the GPT vision with world." Said Walker of the interview, "Folks will get a chance to experience fist hand a living breathing network of prayer that consists of independent Prayer Leaders from State to Neighborhood levels and a network of Intercessors that fill every gap in between.".

It seems they are fostering new independent prayer ministries all over the map and networking them with existing independent ministries allowing them to lift up all those in authority (1 Tim 2:2) including the various ministries involved in leadership and the intercessors themselves in on going local, regional and country wide concerts of prayer.

"We are weaving a blanket of prayer of the finest thread count but as for today it looks more like a net with some denser weaving in certain places but soon it will be finished to the glory of God." said Walker. People from all walks of life were present from our local and state government, from educational institutions, from different churches and from several local business entities . Thank you very much for supporting this mini conference!

Due to the information that was shared and the activities that transpired during this mini conference, there are several people who are planning to meet regularly to discuss the book, “City Impact” by Daniel Bernard and to go through the accompanying Study Guide. Currently, the meeting place will be at FHL office located at 1919 E. 52nd St.

Lost In America

A Spiritual Journey

by

Dr. Noah H. Kersey, Ph.D.

It was late summer of 1976 and my girlfriend of two years had just broken off our relationship. We had been together for a couple of years and had talked about marriage after college. I did not realize that her influential parents had different ideas for their daughter, a beautiful strawberry blond with more freckles than I could count.

I was heart-broken and felt very alone. I knew that I would not find peace about this breakup until I felt fully connected with God.

Growing up in an orphanage, I had no family to turn to for emotional support, so I decided the best way to reestablish the foundation of my faith was to fully place myself in His hands. I decided I needed to take a break from college and go on a spiritual journey which could also lead me to finding myself again. [Continue]

NBC's 'Cruci-fixins' scrambled & scrapped

Fri, Feb 3, 2006 at 9:48 AM

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding “Will and Grace.” NBC has released the following statement:

“Some erroneous information was mistakenly included in a press release describing an upcoming episode of “Will & Grace” which, in fact, has yet to be written. The reference to “Cruci-fixins” will not be in the show and the storyline will not contain a Christian characterization at all. We value our viewers and sincerely regret if this misinformation has offended them.”

[However, a subsequent contact for the president's office at Dispatch Broadcast Group (owner of WTHR-13), could not confirm that assertion, and would say only that "NBC's position at this time is that the show is still in the production phase".]

[News from World Net Daily...]

Forced to pull its highly touted new show "The Book of Daniel" last week because of charges its portrayal of Jesus was blasphemous, NBC is pushing the envelope again with news Britney Spears will guest star on "Will & Grace" as a conservative who hosts on a Christian TV network a cooking segment called "Cruci-fixin's."

Ed.Note: How does this type of thing serve to build a great community here in Indianapolis? Perhaps that's not the objective of the local NBC affiliate which is owned by out-of-state interests. Here are the contacts for WTHR-13, the local NBC affiliate... and the Dispatch Broadcast Group (Columbus OH) who owns & operates WTHR-13.

[On a related note, mark your calendars for the special "Homosexuality, Civil Rights and the Church" forum scheduled for February 28th, being held on the grounds of East 91st Street Christian Church, and being sponsored by Crossroads Bible College, with Dr. A. Charles Ware, moderating.]

God's Word

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

"She has been a member of the Wheaton, Ill., Christian Center for 20 years, but Linda Richardson remembers initially steering clear of the predominantly African-American church when she began her spiritual journey because she saw "too many white people" streaming out the doors. God has changed her, says Richardson, who can still recall a skating rink in her Tennessee hometown choosing to close forever in the early `60s rather than allow black children to skate alongside whites"... God's Word

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners - of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.

Fast & pray... for 'Don'... Weds. Feb. 1st

Ed. note: I wish I had clearance to publish more of this story/prayer request, but unfortunately do not. But we have an urgent prayer request for an international day of fasting & prayer for this beloved Greater Indianapolis pastor. The family is asking that we agree together that this verse be applied to Don in an extraordinary way. Apparently his cancer is beyond medical help at this point and only God can do... what only God can do.

[From 2 Chronicles] “For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you."…This is what the Lord says to you: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's… You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you."
