God's Word

Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands are my delight. Your statutes are forever right; give me understanding that I may live. I call with all my heart; answer me, O LORD, and I will obey your decrees. I call out to you; save me and I will keep your statutes. I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word. My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises. Hear my voice in accordance with your love; preserve my life, O LORD, according to your laws.

Research: Pastors View Islam with Suspicion

[from Lifeway Research... ht: @EdStetzer]

NASHVILLE, Tenn., 4/23/10 – Protestant pastors in the U.S. have a negative view of Islam and more than half agree with Franklin Graham’s statement that Islam is an “evil” religion, according to a just-released study by LifeWay Research. More than 4 in 10 agree that Islam is dangerous and promotes violence.

Graham, son of Billy Graham, stirred controversy in 2001 by saying Islam is an “evil” religion. Recently, Graham called Islam offensive and wants Muslims to know Jesus died for their sins. In response, the U.S. Army yesterday rescinded an invitation to Graham to speak at a May 6 prayer service at the Pentagon, calling his comments “not appropriate.”

Most Protestant pastors, however, agree with Graham according to a telephone survey of 1,000 church leaders conducted March 1-9, 2010, before the current controversy.

The survey included questions about the differences between the religions, giving the respondents the opportunity to choose between positive and negative descriptors.

“When given the choice, they consistently chose the negative descriptions,” explained Ed Stetzer, president of LifeWay Research. “This should not surprise us – Protestant Christianity is, in a sense, a competing faith, and that comes through in the survey.”

Protestant pastors were asked which is closer to their beliefs...

Women's Retreat: Rescuing His Beauties, The Women of God (May 14-16)

She was a delicate beauty. She was a flower unparalleled in all of the universe. She was fearfully and wonderfully made. Her beauty was like no other. She had no insecurities. She had been created for one man and with him she found peace, joy, and most of all, love. She was to be his helper. She was to be his beauty. Eve was to be one with Adam…and they were. She and Adam were to walk with God…and they did.

God had created Eve in His own image. She had been made a beautiful woman. She had nothing to be ashamed of. Her shape was perfect. Her eyes, nose, lips, mouth, heart…it was all perfect. She was stunning. She was just as she had been made.

In one moment, the design of creation took a turn. Eve’s decision to eat the fruit of the forbidden tree changed all creation forever. Eve had lost her purpose and her husband had followed right behind her. All at once, creation began to decay. In that instant, insecurity entered Eve’s heart. She questioned her beauty. She questioned her purpose. She no longer feared God in the same way she used to. She was naked and she was scared. Everything was wrong, and Eve was lost.

What a horrible moment in history.

Eve, it’s not over. I know you don’t feel beautiful, but you are a beauty. I know you don’t feel loved, but you are loved. I know you feel insecure, scared, and lonely, but God will never leave you. You are not alone. In fact, God wanted you so badly, He sent His own Son. Then, He wrote out an incredible account of the rescue plan. He chased you down, defeated the accuser and rescued back His beauty.

"For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

God, through Jesus, welcomes you back to the beauty for which he made you. Through His Spirit, he offers you the opportunity to walk with Him again. Eve, you are loved by God. You are a woman of God. Rejoice!

Ladies, Rise of the Home invites you back to your purpose. God himself, is inviting you all back to your purpose. He’s inviting you back to your beauty. He’s inviting you back to what scripture calls an unfading beauty. He’s inviting you back to your hearts.

Join us at Five Stones Camp in Reelsville, IN on May 14-16, 2010, where you’ll have an amazing opportunity to journey back to God’s purpose for your life and your heart.

God's Word

If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

National Day of Prayer... 4/15 Press Release

Indianapolis Christians... Have you been following the recent court-case re National Day of Prayer? Here's the latest...

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO (April 15, 2010) – The National Day of Prayer Task Force (NDPTF) and Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) are urging President Obama to appeal federal judge Barbara Crabb’s decision in Wisconsin that struck down a federal statute that sets a day for the National Day of Prayer. The order does not affect presidential prayer proclamations and will not go into effect unless the decision still stands after all appeals are exhausted in the case.

Interview with Tony Whittaker, Internet Evangelism Day

[article & interview from HaroldHendrick.com -- Harold is a radio talk-show host for Bott Radio, and is our CityReaching friend in St. Louis....]

Tony Whittaker is the International Coordinator of a vision whose time has come – Internet Evangelism Day (InternetEvangelismDay.com).

It is observed worldwide every fourth Sunday in April. The website is wonderfully helpful and easy to navigate, and includes, for example, many ways a church or other ministry can develop and improve its website for more effective ministry.

Tony, interviewed from his home in Derby, England, notes that such great ministries as Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL are involved in the endorsement and development of Internet Evangelism Day. EveryStudent.com, the evangelistic website of Campus Crusade for Christ, is cited as an effective example of using the internet for pointing people to Christ.

Click this link to listen in and hear Tony Whittaker discuss it.

Governor Daniels Proclaims FHL Week!

"Now, Therefore, I, Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. , Governor of the State of Indiana, do hereby proclaim July 25-30, 2010 as Faith, Hope and Love Week in the State of Indiana and invite all citizens to duly note this occasion."

So begins our FHL Week 2010! Along with our Governor's proclamation, we have been proclaimed by Mayor John Ditslear of Noblesville and Mayor Jim Brainard of the city of Carmel and hope for many more proclamations to come!

As Mayor Brainard invites businesses: "Imagine CEO's, managers, and their employees working shoulder to shoulder to serve the community in practical ways", we too, invite, you, you churches, you fellow Christians, to help serve and lead to show the love of Christ in your neighborhoods this summer as volunteers during Faith, Hope and Love Week 2010.

There are 9 areas of service throughout Indianapolis and the surrounding areas. Would you like more information about the area near you? Feel free to contact the Coordinator for that area at our web site http://fhlinternational.org and be assigned to a team now!

God's Word

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
