Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

In 2009, May 6-8, we'll get to see which category the Evangelical Press Association and Associated Church Press fit into. The two organizations will be holding their annual conventions concurrently, sharing some general sessions and all workshops. It's a chance to meet some new colleagues from another neighborhood in the Kingdom of God."
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
"And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
Social Experiment: Christian Facebook Group Grows To 800,000
[IndyChristian Ed. Note... You'll remember the name Andrew Sears, as President of TechMission.org -- the Association for Christian Community Computing Centers... such as the UBcafe here in Indianapolis. Many of you met Andrew and his Boston-based tech crew at CCDA Indianapolis 2005 when they hosted the Cyber Cafe at the convention. ]
[article by Peter Elliott, Indianapolis]
Andrew Sears started a Facebook group last year wondering if the Internet could connect Christians the same way it had connected consumers for e-commerce.
Based on the results nearly a year later, the answer to that question is a resounding yes.
Sears launched the "One Body of Christ Experiment (all Christians of Facebook)" group last March. Twenty-four hours later, the group had 356 members. As the group approaches its one-year anniversary, it has more than 770,000 members and growing.
"What we thought when we started it is that there are so many divisions in Christianity by denominations, by race, by income and other things," Sears said. "There's an old quote that says, ‘The most segregated hour of the week is 11 a.m. on Sunday morning.'
"The Internet is very good at connecting a lot of different people in a lot of different ways. If millions of buyers and sellers can get together on sites like eBay, why not connect the body of Christ and its diverse backgrounds?"
Sears, a 36-year-old MIT graduate, sees "One Body of Christ" as a natural outgrowth of...
do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the LORD's commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. You will be true to Jacob, and show mercy to Abraham, as you pledged on oath to our fathers in days long ago.
A Great Week For FHL: ESL Classes, Lamb’s Farm Planting, City-Wide Prayer, Mobile Food Pantry and FHL Week 2009 Planning
Hello everyone,
It's been a great week.
We had the Fishers Area churches (FHL Week 2009) meeting at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church, NW area and Greenwood areas. They were attended by several churches and are now planning to meet again in the next few weeks. The week of 3/22, Nora-Castleton and Carmel areas will meet for FHL Week 2009 vision-casting.
The FHL Lamb's Farm was cultivated and we planted seeds on several garden plots. The Burmese Refugees adopted the gardens. Later the same day, the Lord provided almost 30 jobs for these refugees at Heartland Growers through FHL connections. It is possible that we may have a few more acres to raise vegetables in the near future.
FHL's ESL (English as a Second Language) has expanded to a Chic-Fil-A restaurant located in the Clearwater area. We will be teaching basic English to the employees at 86th St restaurant starting the first week of April.
On the 21st of March, FHL Mobile Food Pantry was held at Arlington High School. We had more than 100 volunteers including the Arlington High School Baseball Team. We served more than 150 families from several different nationalities including Iraquis, Burmese, and Hispanics. Food was abundantly shared with people but the main focus was the relationships we built with each other. To help these ones build a relationship with their heavenly Father, we also had a 'Prayer Tent' inside the building.
Next weekend, 3/28, we will have a 'Prayer Tent' at a vacant lot at 10th/Rural from 10a-2p. Through April 2 - 4 is FHL's Kindness Weekend at Bread of Life in Avon, IN. We will be giving away clothes provided by the church. On 4/4, the 3rd FHL city-wide prayer meeting will be held at Bread of Life starting at 7:30pm.
I am so blessed to be part of this ministry. I have the privilege of witnessing what God is doing in our community. Thank you so much for coming alongside FHL in serving the least, the lost and last. If you have not been to any of the FHL events, try to come to the next few; you'll witness what God is doing through FHL ministry.

"If you know of anyone that is upgrading their equipment and would like to donate communication radios to the HERT ministry I would really appreciate it. It would really help us out to get going."
Just a quick shout-out to our friends, Rod & Christa Sanders -- urban missionaries on the near-eastside. 'Sound of Sanders' lets you have a sneak-peek. Let's see what's up today...
There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

Nielsen: Facebook Isn't (Just) For Your Kids Anymore
[excerpted from our Hoosier friend, Kyle Lacy]
"I was reading a new social networking report from Nielsen called Global Faces and Networked Places and they had some stats about the growth of Facebook over the past year.
At Brandswag we deal with the Facebook paradigm from the older generations. Many of the small business owners we talk to would rather not think about using Facebook for marketing or networking because it is something their kids use. Now, we know that is not entirely true and yes… Facebook is used by your children but there is more behind."
"Guess what age group doubled that of their 18 year old children?"
"Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. And the LORD said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love

Battling The Recession... As A Multicultural Church
[ht: Chad Brennan, Facebook]
"Nearly every community in America is being hit hard by the recession and there seems to be no end in sight. It is great to see many churches and ministries reaching out to help. But, imagine what the impact would be if Christians of different ethnicities in your community were all working together to help during this difficult time? Just think how much more effectively different ethnic groups could be served and what a powerful witness that would be for Christ."
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
[notes from several cities involved with the City Reaching Movement]
"1. We give the Lord praise for 38 Congregations (11,000 weekend attendance) and 8 Ministries are now participating with Serve The City (STC) as partners. One of our goals is to connect prayer leaders in Cedar Rapids area; at January’s quarterly meeting we had 29 prayer leaders from local churches!
2. To date we have distributed 2100 "Seek God for the City" Prayer Guides being used by local intercessors.
IndyChristian Note: Over the past 5 years we have consistently aired the shocking Barna statistics that only 4% of Americans held to a 'biblical worldview'. Today's Barna article reports that effectively nothing has changed over the last 10 years. Except his definition and methodology for the future. Thus using his redefined 'biblical worldview', now 9% meet that categorization.
Our conclusion remains the same -- whether it's 384 or 364, out of the 400 metro-area Hoosiers who die EACH WEEK... between sermons... If we're not significantly better than the national average, the Church @ Indianapolis is a long way from effective at carrying out the Great Commission. Something needs to change. And that something, is us... the Church.
Special New Barna Report-- but with changed methodology and definition of 'Biblical Worldview'. Here's Barna's special note near the end of the article...
"Readers are encouraged to realize that the figures described above regarding a biblical worldview are somewhat different than a similar measure reported by The Barna Group in prior years. The earlier measure included an additional component, which had to do with the source of their worldview. When that measure is included, it typically decreases the percentage of people with a biblical worldview by about half."

Gal 6:7-9 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
============
The principle of sowing and reaping...have you ever pondered it? Do we realize that it is a universal principle that even the world recognizes? Remember the phrase, “What goes around, comes around”? The principle of sowing is: what we sow, we will reap of the same kind, at a later time and of increased quantity (e.g. give a hug, get 3 hugs later).
This principle applies in our business relationships, our marriages, how we treat our children, how we treat our “neighbor” and most importantly - how we treat God.
If we are miserly and un-yielding in our business relationships – they are usually very cold, demanding and un-forgiving. If we’re selfish and self-seeking in our marriages, bitterness, a loss of trust and a sincere lack of joy are usually the outward symptoms (with others running much deeper). If we never show approval or love or give the idea that our children are never good enough, then our children will grow up legalistic, rebellious, and very needy of the emotional support they don’t get at home which will lead them to many poor choices and much heartache. When we ignore our neighbor – he usually ignores us; even in times of great need.
Most importantly, because God loves us so very much, when we ignore God, when we don’t give Him our best, when we don’t show Him our love and gratitude, we break His heart. God will NEVER stop loving us, He will NEVER not be on our side, and as His children He will NEVER stop blessing us and showing us His goodness! (Would you to your children?)
But...He also loves us enough to allow us to lead our own lives if we so desire. He loves us enough to allow us to go “our own way” and go “without Him” – why? God knows that we will reap what we sow and as we bring in the harvest of our flesh, we will see God’s goodness which brings us to repentance (Rom 2:4). Remember Gal 6:8...if we sow to our flesh, we will reap of our flesh (the works of the flesh are sin and corruption).
Pray with me that we see God as the One who loves us despite us...
"And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
IndyChristian Ed. Note: I spoke with Tom Kendall, a Police Commissioner with the Carmel Police Dept and a member of the Hamilton County Response Team. He shared the goal of the training...
"To provide many of the services often unavailable or overlooked by other Emergency Response Agencies, and still be able to work with and coordinate with those Agencies, like the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Billy Graham Rapid Response Team as well as first response agencies.
We are preparing our Emergency Response Team to be more than well-meaning volunteers ready to help out in a disaster, we are preparing to provide well-trained, credentialed volunteers who are capable of not only helping where needed, but to be able to take leadership roles to help during almost any type of emergency response.
Our Ministry Team includes everything from Chaplaincy and Certified Critical Incident Stress Management personnel to people willing to just be in prayer for people suffering from disasters, the team and first responders. Our Incident Command Team is also prepared to deploy the Horizon Christian Fellowship facilities as a Red Cross Shelter and provide our own trained personnel to make up all or most of the volunteer personnel at the shelter to ease the burden on the Red Cross, should that be necessary. Horizon is located on 98 acres of property and has many different buildings and facilities available."
Saturday's training is from 8:30am - 5pm... You can sign up at the door... $40. Come get involved yourself and consider how YOUR church could be well-prepared to love your NEIGHBORS as yourselves...
And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the LORD has said, among the survivors whom the LORD calls.
He said: "The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior-- from violent men you save me. I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. "The waves of death swirled about me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. "The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God, the Rock, my Savior! Therefore I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing praises to your name.

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him-- the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD-- and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist. The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be glorious. In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Hamath and from the islands of the sea. He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth. Ephraim's jealousy will vanish, and Judah's enemies will be cut off; Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, nor Judah hostile toward Ephraim. They will swoop down on the slopes of Philistia to the west; together they will plunder the people to the east. They will lay hands on Edom and Moab, and the Ammonites will be subject to them. The LORD will dry up the gulf of the Egyptian sea; with a scorching wind he will sweep his hand over the Euphrates River. He will break it up into seven streams so that men can cross over in sandals. There will be a highway for the remnant of his people that is left from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from Egypt.
