FHL Week 2008 Testimonies: We All Care Outreach - The Power of Unity In Action
Evangelist Angela Bolen of We All Care Outreach recently led a group of pastors and people, getting them fired up in reaching out the children at the LACO apartment complex. The event had rappers, plenty of food and overflowing love for the children.
This event was an offshoot of the FHL week 2008. At the FHL Week Urban wrap up meeting a few weeks ago, it was brought to his attention that Sister Angela was thinking of reaching out to the children at her apartment complex. Merlin Gonzales, CEO of Faith, Hope and Love, International Inc., asked her to contact her apartment management and arrange for the music. Before he knew it, she had networked with Pastor Eric Whitaker of Mercy Seat Church and Anthony Beverly of St. Luke’s Missionary Baptist, both participants of the FHL Week 2008.
This is a testimony of the power of Unity in the Body Christ. Praise the Lord!
Word on the street is that Kimber Kauffman has just accepted the position as Sr. Pastor at Crossroads Bible Church on Indy's eastside.
In recent months, Pastor Kauffman has been leading a men's outreach Bible study in that area. He is best known though, as the long-time senior pastor of College Park Church on Indy's northside.
Crossroads Bible Church was founded by, and remains co-located with, Crossroads Bible College... where Dr. Charles Ware is president. Kimber is a former board member of the college.
He will be preaching at Crossroads starting tomorrow (11am).
the wise hears and increases learning; and understanding ones gets wisdom; to understand a proverb and its meaning; the words of the wise, and their acute sayings. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-- this is your reasonable act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-- his good, pleasing and perfect will. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
Just a reminder for all you geeks and wannabees... *smile*... come join us for lunch today (Friday)... noon, at Cairo Cafe.
Everyone should feel absolutely welcome. Let's break bread together and accelerate the Great Commission as we learn & use these new tools God has given us... to team up throughout the city... and start getting the job done.
Democrats are flaming liberals, Republicans are rich conservatives! Ugh, does this exhaust anyone else besides me? Everyone has opinions, but why do we so oppose each other and try to get everyone not on our side of the opinion war to convert to our views?
Last Sunday I watched an open forum conducted by Saddleback Church pastor Rick Warren...
It seems the universe is kicking Rhonda Byrne's butt these days - some have called it a "karmic backlash" against the author of The Secret.
In her best-selling book, Byrne writes "Nothing (good or bad) can come into your experience unless you summon it through persistent thoughts. Your thoughts are the primary cause of everything. Your current reality or your current life is a result of the thoughts you have been thinking.” In that case, Byrne's in dire need of some happy thoughts, pronto.
The Weekend Australian Magazine recently reported "'the most powerful law in the universe' seems to have gone awry, with Byrne's own former associates accusing her of fraud and hiring platoons of lawyers to pick apart the business machinations behind The Secret." Byrne responded by suing "two of the very people who were instrumental in launching her book and film The Secret to phenomenal success ... a tactic one judge has since described as vexatious and harassing."
The very long report compares snippets from the book's claims to the reality of Byrne's legal woes and growing list of enemies, "all of which seems to contradict the law of attraction – unless you believe the universe is trying to restore balance by undermining the entire glittering edifice of self-help entrepreneurialism."
Dan Hollings, a former associate "whose 'viral marketing' helped propel Byrne to global fame via Oprah" claims he wouldn't trade places with the author for any amount of money. “I just don’t think success has enriched her life," he says. "It’s like lottery winners who win the lottery and discover their life is worse and they wish they had never won.”
In an article for the Christian Professional magazine last year, Theresia Whitfield pointed out a series of problems with the teachings advanced by The Secret in how they line up with the Scriptures and with reality. [more]

FRANKLIN, Ind. – Franklin College will host a Doctors Without Borders convocation with guest speaker Sally Najera, RN, MPH, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, in the Franklin College Chapel.
Najera has participated in medical missions in Mozambique, Liberia, Angola, Darfur, and most recently, Bihar State in northern India where she worked with victims of severe flooding. Najera will talk about life on the frontlines, where she and others bring much needed relief to regions affected by conflict and crises. In addition to establishing hospitals and clinics and performing surgeries in remote villages where doctors are scarce, Najera and her teams leave a lasting legacy by providing shelters, implementing nutritional programs, vaccinating children, sanitizing water supplies and offering health education programs.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information contact Franklin College at (317) 738-8185.
Founded in 1834, Franklin College is a residential four-year undergraduate liberal arts institution 20 minutes from downtown Indianapolis. The College prepares men and women for significant careers through the liberal arts, offering its approximately 1,000 students 28 majors including biology, business, education, and journalism. In 1842, it became the first coeducational institution, and the seventh in the nation, to admit women. Franklin College maintains a voluntary association with the American Baptist Churches USA.
This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem: In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.

I’ve been building a new website called Sunday School Wiki. The vision behind this project is simple: empower Sunday School teachers to create a world-class 100% free Bible teaching curriculum
“Wiki” refers to a any website where readers can edit pages. This is a powerful tool for collaboration over the web. Imagine bringing hundreds of passionate Bible teachers together to create free ministry resources. Sunday School Wiki allows teachers to work together like never before.
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. hen you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.'" Jehoshaphat bowed with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the LORD. Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the LORD, the God of Israel, with very loud voice

"Disclaimer: I am neither a politician nor the son of a politician. I hold very little hope in the political process. I am not trying to "reclaim America for Christ" (ugh) or "fight the culture war."
However, at the end of the day, I am a daddy of 5 kids and take pretty seriously what the Bible says about the value therof -both in and out of the womb. Therefore, I have been "pro-life" in general (though no party loyalty in particular).
Recently I had a spirited debate with a friend of Facebook. She describes herself "pro-life" but is publicly and vocally supporting a presidential candidate who has a woeful history when it comes to such things. When I asked her if she were still pro-life, here is how she responded."
On August 16, my youngest son, Jonathan, and I had the opportunity to travel with Pastor William Bumphus and his team to Danville Kentucky for an outreach at Northpoint Prison. Bringing video cameras into the prison was a rare privilege that required special permission by the Warden, against the wishes of others in the institution.
We produced this video to share a little of the experience of watching God move behind prison walls. More than 70% of men now incarcerated will be released within a few years. Of those released, more than half will be re-incarcerated (recidivism). As believers, we know that it is only the power of God that breaks this cycle through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Men who are born again and live according to the Word not only cease committing crimes, but become powerful agents of change and salvation for others.

[This is a great application for the new video format at BloggingHeads.TV...]
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--An innovative Internet video technology provided a venue Aug. 20 for a real-time "diavlog" between Brian McLaren, an author and leader in the Emerging Church movement, and Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission. The two men, usually considered to be on opposite ends of the political spectrum, conducted a town-hall discussion on the proper role of religion in modern politics.
The technology featured on bloggingheads.tv allows speakers to interact before an Internet audience in a split-screen video format. Dan Gilgoff, politics editor for beliefnet.com, tapped Land and McLaren for the event because they already are blogging separately on beliefnet.com.
McLaren and Land, both of whom are listed on Time Magazine's Most Influential Evangelicals list, seemed to agree on several points, including the media's lack of understanding about evangelical Christians and unhelpful stereotypes rooted in "liberal/conservative" and "left/right" labels.
Because the meaning of terms like "progressive," "conservative" and "liberal" vary from person to person, McLaren and Land began their dialogue with a discussion of those terms.
In communities across the country it has become more common to witness the establishment of non-denominational churches, or congregations with no ties to a large religious organization.
Over the last 20 years many new congregations have chosen to adopt general titles such as “Christian Church,” “Worship Center” or “Assembly,” reflecting their desire to promote only biblical teachings instead of the customs of man-made denominations.
At the same time (but to a lesser extent) some established churches have dropped traditional descriptions such as “Baptist” or “Apostolic” from their official names in an effort to welcome potential members from different denominational backgrounds.
Such changes have left many observers, including scholars, pastors and laymen, to wonder if historic denominations are on the decline and losing their appeal.
* “People are moving away from certain types of tradition and labels and they are coming into a place where they want to know God for themselves, said Audrey Berden, senior pastor and founder of Virtue and Praise Ministries. “They want to come into a place where there is relationship and not religion.”
Rev. Samuel Sumner, pastor of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, agrees to a certain extent...
That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sin
The following is excerpted from an online letter from Randy Faulkner, CEO...
Dear Friends,
Several of you have asked us about the Indianapolis Business Journal's recent coverage of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s lawsuit against the Indiana Christian Chamber of Commerce, citing that our similar names create confusion and infringe on their trademark. While we’ve chosen to address that dispute privately, we welcome the opportunity to clarify our vision and next steps, and how those relate to other business organizations in our region.
Indiana enjoys a myriad of business associations and programs, all churning out resources to help local businesses. Rather than duplicating those efforts, the Christian Chamber seeks to promote existing resources while equipping professionals with the wealth of proven marketplace strategies found in Scripture.
We believe significant, lasting success stems from personal and spiritual growth. Hence, we prioritize character development, peer-to-peer accountability and relationship building, with the Scriptures as our standard. We find that injecting biblical precepts into daily business dealings invariably translates into enhanced relationships, increased influence and, consequently, added profits — outcomes that have been documented and reported by BusinessWeek, Fortune magazine, The New York Times, CNN.com and other national outlets.
The state chamber’s lawsuit came in the midst of...

INDIANAPOLIS - Tuesday, August 19th- Faith leaders from around Indiana were invited to a luncheon hosted by Curt Smith (Indiana Family Institute) and a host committee of a dozen others. There were hundreds of people in attendance for the Indiana Faith Leaders Luncheon held at Jonathan Byrd's Cafeteria in Greenwood.
It was an uplifting time of getting acquainted with others who minister to their communities, connecting and networking with others who use their expertise in various ways in order to serve the people of this state.
The event culminated with a speech by our Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, who was introduced by his own church's Reverand John Gable (Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis).
Governor Daniels spoke in a sincere and candid manner about his admiration for our faith based ministries. Applause met his statement that what the youth of our state need most is an intact family. "Government is a blunt instrument," he continued, " your moral example has never been more important" . . . "The kind of example you set is golden in it's importance."
In a very personal tone, the Governor shared his perspectives on serving the people of this state with intentionality, guided by his own beliefs in forgiveness and charity to fellow mankind. This can be a balancing act that rivals any being done on a balance beam in Beijing, China right now, the governor stated to receive an understanding chuckle.
Governor Daniels also mentioned the very recent passing of Lucious Newsom, a ninety-plus gentlemen and fellow servant to the needy. He paid tribute Mr. Newsom while challenging all present to live our lives in such a God-loving, people-serving manner.
At the conclusion of his speech, Dr. Charles Ware closed our time in prayer. The crowd dispersed to the quite murmuring of hundreds of faith leaders continuing to greet one another and connect with business cards and pleasant conversation.
Though his speech had been delivered, and the event was officially ended, one thing remained. Our governor, remained at the front of the room greeting ALL people who waited in line. He kindly shared a personal word, signed autographs, and graciously posed for photographs as digital cameras and cell phone cameras flashed. He was again demonstrating his stated priorities of staying in touch with the people and leading by example.
When my turn had arrived, I asked him to please write in my notebook one of his favorite verses. This is what he wrote [while stating that he wasn't positive of the exact wording off the top of his head]:
"Seek to be a workman approved by God ... 2 Timothy 2:15, Mitch Daniels 8/19/08."
On a personal note: I had already admired our governor for his approachability, integrity and public witness and example. These qualities especially shine forth against the darkness that can be seen in newsdriven "packaging" found in various political races going on at this time.
It was refreshing to hear positive and uplifting remarks echoing throughout this room . . . associated with Governor Daniels administration. After having been blessed to be surrounded by so many of our state's God-directed leaders, I felt especially proud to call myself not only a Christian, but a Hoosier.
NOTE: a two-part video of some of Governor Mitch Daniels follows.
Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear-- hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy-- to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
After ten years publishing under the masthead of The Wichita Chronicle and later The Chronicle Christian Newspaper, the newspaper will change its name. Effective September 1, 2008 the paper will operate as the Christian Press.
Nearly a year ago the law firm of Vaughn, Winton & Clark of Edmond, Oklahoma, who represent the Church of Christ denominational newspaper The Christian Chronicle, requested The Chronicle Christian Newspaper to cease and desist under its current name. Attorneys claim The Chronicle Christian Newspaper name violates federal trademark law protecting the Oklahoma based denominational newspaper’s identity.
“Though the owners of the trademark have no objection to your use of the name The Chronicle, the owners do object to the use of the words Chronicle and Christian together for the designation of a religious news publication because of the confusion created and infringement on the registered trademark,” said Matthew Winton of Vaughn, Winton and Clark.
Publishers Russ and Jackie Jones retained the services of Wichita based Martin, Pringle, Oliver, Wallace and Bauer in their defense. The paper’s defense pointed out differences between a denominational publication and the efforts of The Chronicle to reach a broader Christian market.
“Your client’s newspaper publication is intended to reach its specific membership, those who are members of the Church of Christ,” attorney Lora Jennings wrote in a letter. “My client’s monthly publication reaches a wholly separate audience.”
CP photo, Jackie Jones with Indianapolis writer Bella Louisa
The Jones’ say after spending much time, energy and money defending the name it was time to move on.
“We’ve prayed this through and there comes a time when fighting isn’t beneficial,” said co-publisher Russ Jones. “There are experiences and interactions on this earth I won’t ever really understand. It is only a name – there are many good names.”
Changing the name became easier when a Christian psychiatrist from Nigeria...
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

A former minister and local advocate for the poor, Lucious Newsom died at the age of 93 Monday night.Newsom had been hospitalized at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove. He had run a pantry mission for 20 years. He had been honored two months ago for decades of service.
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-- it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
"if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
The beauty is not in the bulletin board itself. Rather church uses this whole partition/wall in their fellowship hall. So their members don't just stand around having coffee & cookies with little or nothing to talk about, but in fact they may consider tangible ways they can demonstrate the 'one another' principle from scripture.
Related: So perhaps it's no surprise that such a church is one of the active Carmel churches involved with 'Faith Hope & Love Week' in the metro area... modeling Christ-like service in our neighborhoods. [Thanks Paul for all you do!]
Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. And the LORD said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.

The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.

"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. "This, then, is how you should pray: "'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. ' For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
The purpose of the Reformation Society of Indiana is to unite church pastors and leaders with like minds and hearts for elevating the great doctrines of the Bible to bring about modern reformation. Through regional theological conferences and bimonthly pastor fellowship meals, we seek to encourage, equip, and embolden pastors and church leaders to re-examine the historic doctrines best stated in the “solas” of the 16th century Reformation and to preach and teach the whole counsel of God.
Please join us on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 for the Reformation Society luncheon and Bible study at Zion Unity Missionary Baptist Church, 3855 East 10th St.; Indianapolis 46201. The luncheon will begin at noon and end at 1:45 p.m. Our presenters will be Mark Melton and Charlie Shields. We will be studying Titus 2:11-15, continuing the series “Shepherding a Young Pastor”.
Please RSVP for the luncheon by calling 255-7557 and leave your name and the number in your party.
We look forward to this time of fellowship in the Word as we strengthen our hands for the work of the ministry entrusted to each of us. This kind of Bible study Calvin, Knox and other Reformation leaders throughout Europe believed was an essential factor in the continuing work of reformation. The Holy Spirit working through godly men brings fresh understanding. Come prepared with your own study of Titus and participate in the discussion session following the speakers.
To RSVP for the luncheon please call (317) 255-7557 or send an e-mail to office@secondrpc.org. This will allow us to better prepare for lunch. We look forward to seeing you there.

Solzhenitsyn's death reminds us about freedom's cost and biblical purpose.
Had Alexandr Solzhenitsyn died too young, like so many other forced laborers, the Soviet Union might still be with us. Yet many of the 89-year-old author's eulogists write as if he lived too long.
To be sure, tributes to Solzhenitsyn have reflected the enormity and diversity of his contributions. The Wall Street Journal lauded him for calling evil like it is, saying he "fortified the West with the truth and will to triumph in the Cold War." The Associated Press enthused that his accounts of the Soviet Gulag, most famously One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich and The Gulag Archipelago, "inspired millions, perhaps, with the knowledge that one person's courage and integrity could, in the end, defeat the totalitarian machinery of an empire." The New York Times painted him with vivid color. "Mr. Solzhenitsyn was heir to a morally focused and often prophetic Russian literary tradition, and he looked the part," Michael T. Kaufman wrote. "With his stern visage, lofty brow and full, Old Testament beard, he recalled Tolstoy while suggesting a modern-day Jeremiah, denouncing the evils of the Kremlin and later the mores of the West."
But like Dostoevsky before him, Solzhenitsyn is not so easy for Westerners to understand. Both renowned authors chronicled their time in brutal Russian labor camps. Yet the experience scarcely dimmed either Orthodox Christian's national pride. You might expect the great opponent of Stalin would have worried...
Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine. Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper. Your eyes will see strange sights and your mind imagine confusing things. You will be like one sleeping on the high seas, lying on top of the rigging. "They hit me," you will say, "but I'm not hurt! They beat me, but I don't feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?"
Just a few weeks ago, Indianapolis and surrounding communities were abuzz with activity as volunteers gathered for works of service to the community as a whole. There were various projects doing such things as: cleaning trash, pulling weeds, building raised garden boxes, storage barns, roofing, painting, screening, clearing brush, digging, sweeping, and other manual labor performed sacrificially by not just local people, but by volunteers coming in from out of state to help out their neighbors as well.
There is lots of raw footage of various acts of service, the joy of giving to fellow man, and sharing in the fellowship of love and meeting the needs of others. The Cityreaching Visual Communications Team is working on cataloging, labeling and editing together videos for use throughout the internet and community. This is a slow process, but the products will be useful tools in spreading the news about how just a little effort can have a tremendous impact.
In the meantime, we hope that you will enjoy this video as only a small taste of what is yet to come.

Faith Leaders' Luncheon Featuring Gov. Mitch Daniels Noon, Tuesday, Aug 19th Location: Jonathan Byrd's Cafeteria 100 Byrd Way, Greenwood, Indiana.
There is strong initial interest and we look forward to welcoming a wide array of Indiana faith leaders from various communities, traditions and beliefs for a time of fellowship and refreshment with our State's Chief Executive Officer.
The invitation is for faith leaders (pastors, ministry leaders, para-church professionals and other community leaders engaged in public ministry). As this is a free gathering focused on faith leaders, we do ask you limit the invitation to demonstrated faith community leaders, whether volunteer or paid.
The highlight of our gathering will be remarks by the Governor. In addition, we will have a variety of materials guiding churches and other non-profits toward the activities they may engage in consistent with their tax-exempt status to inform and encourage faith-filled Hoosiers to fully participate in the political process. But this is not a fundraiser nor is it a campaign rally.
Please encourage people to register online www.rsvp08.com/faithleaders so we can have an accurate count for planning purposes.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.
"Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. "Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.
What if hJesus asked you to give up your possessions? Do you love him enough to comply? What if he asked you to give up your family? Would you listen as Abraham? What if he asked you to lay down your life for him? Do you have the courage to stand as Stephen did?
What if he didn't command these things, but instead just asked you to share the Gospel with strangers? Would you? ----or should I rather say, DO YOU?
What if Jesus asked you three times as he asked Peter, "do you love me?" What would you say?
Jesus said: "If you love me, you will obey what I command." John 14:15
And he commanded: "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." Mark 16:15
Likewise: "...go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" Matthew 28:19
The Rev. Paul Earl Sheppard had recently become the senior pastor of a suburban church in California when a group of parishioners came to him with a disturbing personal question.
They were worried because the racial makeup of their small church was changing. They warned Sheppard that the church's newest members would try to seize control because members of their race were inherently aggressive. What was he was going to do if more of "them" tried to join their church? "One man asked me if I was prepared for a hostile takeover.
IndyChristian Ed. Note... Consider some of the growing ideas & links on the collaborative MULTICULTURAL page in the CityReaching.org Wiki. Dare we consider 'repentance' as a starting point?
For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to men in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit. The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.

Mark Driscoll Interviews J.I. Packer On Young Leadership
"In the lengthy time that Dr. J. I. Packer afforded me to speak with him while we were recently together in Orlando, I asked him which theological issues he would commend young Christian leaders to study in order to be prepared for the next fifty years. His list was quite insightful..."

And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
Superintendent Eugene White pledged to make IPS the nation's best urban school system by 2010, and a new study shows just how far behind the district was when he made that promise three years ago.
The study, based on the 2005-06 school year, pegged the graduation rate for black males in Indianapolis Public Schools at 19 percent -- the lowest among 63 urban districts in the study. The rate for white males was also 19 percent, which was better than only Detroit.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

"If
you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from
his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,
then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one
in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but
in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not
only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus..." (Philippians
